Practical skills, inspirational learning, & rejuvenation in nature.

For occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, educators, or mental health professionals working with children who have challenges with motor skills, mental health, sensory processing/self-regulation, or social skills.

Here at Outdoor Kids OT, nature-based therapy is what we do. We’ve seen first-hand the power of nature-based therapy to change the lives of children, families…& therapists!

We’ve practiced, learned (sometimes from mistakes!), reflected, trained, researched, and created systems and resources for nature-based therapeutic intervention that WORK.

We want to equip and empower YOU to be a nature-based therapy adventurer too!

Nature-based therapy is not just nature play outdoors. You need a therapeutic framework for nature-based therapy.

The ConTiGO (Connection & Transformation in the Great Outdoors) Approach is the nature-based therapeutic intervention model designed at Outdoor Kids OT to foster children’s motor coordination, confidence, self-regulation, and social skills. Based on research from the fields of psychology, outdoor education, and occupational therapy, the ConTiGO Approach will give you an evidence-based framework to guide best practice in nature-based therapy with children.

The ConTiGO Approach:

  • Provides a clear framework to organize your nature-based therapy sessions.

  • Helps you blend therapy with nature-connection to optimize outcomes.

  • Guides your therapeutic reasoning without inhibiting your creativity.

  • Allows you to easily train employees if you want to grow your nature-based therapy business.

  • Empowers you to offer a unique service in your community that will set you apart from other therapy practices.

The just-right balance of learning + relaxation.

Our brains need down-time for reflection in order to truly integrate new learning. We’ll have daily time to relax-on-purpose. Do what fills your cup. Be alone or with others. Enjoy the beach, hike in the redwoods, go in the sauna, journal, sleep, or talk about our dreams for our work and lives. This time of reflection and connection will be some of the best learning that happens during the training retreat.

Are you ready to change lives through nature-based therapy?

Then don’t spend hours/days/weeks/months/years(!) trying to figure it out alone on your own, making mistakes, learning through trial-and-error, and feeling ineffective or uncertain.

Come to the Therapy in the Great Outdoors Training Retreat to get the skills and support you need to immediately start providing nature-based therapy with confidence and in community with others!
